Physical and chemical properties |
Colorless and transparent fuming liquid, relative density 1.574, melting point -112°C, boiling point 75.5°C, soluble in ether, benzene, carbon disulfide and carbon tetrachloride. When exposed to moist air, it can be hydrolyzed into phosphorous acid and hydrogen chloride, producing white smoke and deteriorating. It decomposes violently in contact with water and releases hydrogen chloride gas. It reacts with oxygen to produce phosphorus oxychloride, and reacts with chlorine to produce phosphorus pentachloride. It will catch fire when it comes in contact with organic matter. It is flammable, easy to irritate the mucous membrane, corrosive and toxic. |
Use |
Mainly used in the manufacture of trichlorfon, methamidophos and acephate, phosphorous oxychloride, phosphorous acid, triphenyl phosphate and triphenol phosphate, as well as the raw materials of organophosphorus pesticides such as Dafenjing. The pharmaceutical industry is used to produce sulfadiazine (S, D) and sulfapentamethoxine (S, M, D). In the dye industry, it is used as a condensation agent and catalyst for the production of color phenols. |
